Traveling can be filled with lots of emotions: stress, excitement, fun, dread of the hours of siting and waiting. It doesn't matter if you are the Captain, First Officer, Flight Attendant or Passenger being able to ensure that you are comfortable and able to manage a pain free or relatively comfortable flight is important.
One of the tools I never leave home without is a lacrosse ball. While could be seen as a slightly underrated tool, for the traveler who experiences pain in the back of the shoulder, tightness in the hips, or has those "knots" in their muscles this is a great tool that is easy to fit in your luggage. I typically pack mine in my extra shoes, or shove it in my personal item and it doesn't take up much room.
Ways to use a lacrosse ball can vary from myofascial release to working on your hand-eye coordination and balance. My favorite way to utilize a lacrosse ball is with pressure to the "knot."
Normally I will throw the ball in a pillow case because it gives me more control and will hang the case over my back and hep guide the ball towards the area in my back that I feel the most tension. From there, apply a little pressure and feel the "hurt so good feeling."

Another tool that is a great option, but not as good for travel if you are flying with just a carry-on is a myofascial release hook. These hooks are great for helping to manage trigger points in the upper back.
